Chapman Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing is proud to announce that we have been named 2017 Bryant Dealer of the Year at the recent Bryant Dealer Rally.

Without the support and loyalty of our customers, we would never have achieved such an honor. We sincerely thank each and everyone. Of course, we would also be remiss if we didn’t give a shout out to all the hard-working men and women of Chapman. They are the real heroes.

Well, why don’t we just hear it from the man himself?!

Earning the recognition of Bryant Dealer of the Year represents the strength and culmination of our bond with our employees, said Jeff Chapman, president of Chapman Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing. I’m honored to receive this award and I look forward to representing all Bryant dealers in 2017. Our company is comprised of world-class tradesmen who are not only talented in what they do, but are also customer-centric. We pride ourselves on the entire customer experience from the initial home visit to installation to maintenance. We’re also committed to training, not only with our workforce, but we serve as advocates of the entire HVAC industry. In fact, we’re currently in the process of developing a training center at our facility in Indianapolis and we’ll be able to elevate the design and resources housed within the center that is slated to open this fall. And, last but not least, this represents the strength and bond with our loyal Chapman customers. Without them, none of this would be possible. Our customers have my sincerest thanks.

For the third consecutive year, Chapman was also awarded the Bryant Medal of Excellence award. Every year, Bryant selects 15 companies out of 3,400 nationwide to win the Medal of Excellence award. These 15 then compete for the prestigious Dealer of the Year award.

Again, we have no one to thank but you, our customers, and the people we work with that make this company so great.

Ok, enough of the mushy stuff. As honored as we are by these awards, we promise not to let it go to our heads! We are inspired, now more than ever, to keep up our high-quality of service in air conditioning, plumbing and furnace installation, repair and maintenance.

Indianapolis HVAC Repair

You wouldn’t drive your car for thousands and thousands of miles without changing the oil? Of course not. Why? Like all machines, there is wear and tear on the system. To keep your car running you have it checked out by a professional periodically. The same logic applies to your HVAC system. Cleaning the filters, checking the performance of the blower motors and refrigerant levels should be done at the beginning of the cooling season. Make sure your HVAC is ready for the long hot summer.

Time to replace your HVAC Unit?

Some things get better with age. Your HVAC is not one of those things. Manufacturers are always improving their products to give their customers the best and most up-to-date technology available. If you have an HVAC unit that is 10 years old or older, you could be running into costly repairs that are not worth paying for anymore. Save yourself from the headaches and constant calls to your service technician by replacing your HVAC today. Energy efficiency standards are mandated by the government in an effort to keep energy costs low. This puts presser on the manufacturers to improve their technology year after year. If it is emergency service that you need, we are available to assist you, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To help reduce those service emergencies, we offer service agreements to keep your comfort system running at peak performance

Can you imagine the world with no air conditioning?

Unfortunately, I’m sure some of you can. Air conditioning, in our humble opinion, is one of the greatest inventions of the 20th Century.

Air conditioning took some time to catch on, with only about 10% of homes possessing AC in 1965. However, once it caught on and became more accessible, especially in the hot south, it took the world by storm. In 2007, 86% of homes were equipped with air conditioning.

Today we take our in-home climate control for granted. But, that wasn’t always the case. 100 years ago, before the invention of air conditioning, when it got too hot, things just shut down shut down in the summer, including our government.

Now, some people might argue that shutting down the government was good thing but this is not a political post.

In 1928, two air ducts were installed to bring relief to the congressmen suffering in the hot and muggy Washington, DC July. The system didn’t look or work quite the way it does today, using water instead of refrigerant to cool the air. But, the basic principals were in place with cool air being circulated throughout the building via ducts.

Today, we rely on the refrigerant R410 A to cool air. The ductwork is smaller but the end result is still a cool, comfortable room.

You can read more here if you are curious about this first installation in our nation’s capital https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/capitol-air-conditioning-tunnel.

Today, you can’t afford to just shut down your office and send your workers home. You need to make sure you have the right air conditioning unit in place to keep you and your employee cool, productive and happy.

Chapman Heating | Air Conditioning | Plumbing isn’t just your go-to Indianapolis air conditioning installation and air conditioning repair for your home. We are also equipped to bring cool relief to your office building.

This month we are spotlighting one of our newest maintenance technicians, Cecilia Smith. As a maintenance technician, Cecilia is a specialist in air conditioner repair. Out in the field every day, she makes sure all our customers’ air conditioning and furnace systems are running in tip-top shape.

A Career, Not a Job

Before joining the Chapman team, Cecilia had a passion for the HVAC trade. She went to trade school at AC/C Tech here in Indianapolis to pursue her career in the industry.

Her interest in working in the HVAC trade started young when she realized she greatly enjoyed getting dirty and working with her hands. Cecilia said it even gives her a little wave of euphoria when she works.

I just get this feeling of excitement doing what I do, Cecilia said. The customer doesn’t know how to solve their problem. So, having the ability to help them fix it and solve the problem feels really good.

However, after graduating she joined an HVAC company but wasn’t very happy.

My last job was just a job. I didn’t feel like I was going anywhere. I wanted a better opportunity.

She soon learned about a new opportunity here at Chapman. After seeing her certification and credentials, we were excited to welcome her aboard!

Now three months in, Cecilia is still technically in training but thriving as a maintenance tech. She works on site with an assistant trainer, who she says is more there for moral support than anything. Do you think she is confident in her abilities, or what?

On Wednesdays and Fridays, she even gets to spend time in our classroom expanding her knowledge of AC and furnaces to achieve more certification and grow her HVAC career to new heights.

She also says she feels right at home among Chapman’s tight-knit community.

Working at Chapman isn’t just a job , it’s a career.

HVAC Trailblazer

In a way, Cecilia is a bit of a trailblazer. Although there is a growing number of women joining the industry every year, HVAC is often seen as a male-dominated industry.

Cecilia was never deterred, and is not only happy and comfortable as a woman in HVAC but is certain she has chosen the best career for herself.

It’s funny, you get different responses with different customers as a woman tech, mostly great, Cecilia said. Customers are very kind and the trainers at Chapman have been very helpful in educating me and allowing me to work independently and have lots of one-on-one with customers.

In a lot of ways, being a woman really helps me out!

Cecilia said she would encourage any woman with any interest in learning the HVAC trade to follow their heart. Even if you don’t end up loving it, she said, you will walk away a more knowledgeable person.

About Cecilia

Cecilia is a born and raised Hoosier. Born in Shelbyville, her family moved to Greenwood when she was 12. She went to high school at Whiteland.

When she isn’t working, Cecilia can usually be found spending with her 2-year old son and her family. On weekends, she usually goes to Greensburg to enjoy time at her parents or sister’s house.

Is it summertime yet?!

It sure does feel like summer in Indianapolis! The weather is nice (apart from the occasional downpour), the trees and grass are green and the birds are chirping.

As much as it may feel like it, it isn’t quite summer yet. But, never fear Hoosiers, summer will be here before you know it!

Aside from the beautiful weather, there are always a few telltale signs that let us know every year that summer is almost here. Here are our top 4 things that get us in the summer mindset.

The Indy 500

Did you make it out to the track?

The month of May is all about the track and preparing for the greatest spectacle in racing.

We are so close to the track we could hear the cars from our office!

We certainly had a nail-biter this year and had loads of fun going out to the track for the Grand Prix, qualifications and the main event. Hope you did too!

Concert season

Does anything say summer more than music outdoors?

Whether it’s at Klipsch Music Center, Connor Prairie or The Lawn at White River State Park, music is filling the air. There is something going on every weekend, it feels like, so be sure to get some tickets for your favorite act.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers may have been the big outdoor show of the year, but there is plenty of great music to hear the rest of the year.

The Colts are back at it

Our Indianapolis Colts have put on the pads and started their OTAs, which means summer training camp will be here before you know it!

Although they had a disappointing season in 2016, we still love our Colts and are excited to watch them compete this season.

After several seasons holding training camp in Anderson, the Colts are staying in town this season with several practices open to the public.

Cranking up the Air Conditioner

It isn’t quite summer in our book until you start cranking the AC. Although the weather has been pretty favorable, we have definitely have had to run ours at home a lot more often!

Before you know it, you are going to want that thing running 24/7 to beat the often-brutal Indiana heat. Why wait until it starts getting really hot?

Now is the perfect time to make sure your air conditioner is in tip-top shape and ready to battle the summer heat. Or, maybe it is time for an upgrade?

Whether your current unit needs a tune-up or you need a new top-of-the-line air conditioner, make sure your summer isn’t spoiled by the heat. Chapman | Heating | Air Conditioning | Plumbing is the one to call!

We are proud to serve all of central Indiana’s heating, air conditioning and plumbing needs. Give us a call today for an estimate on air conditioning repairs or your very own brand new air conditioning unit.
